Peru’s blueberry industry is undergoing a period of continuous transformation, driven by new production, commercial, and technological challenges that are reshaping the future of the crop.
For those looking to stay up to date and gain first-hand insight into the trends that will shape the sector’s development, the 1st International Blueberry Production Specialization Course will take place in Chiclayo on June 30 and July 1. The event will bring together leading specialists, advisors, and industry leaders to share knowledge, experiences, and perspectives on the present and future of the business.
Organized by CASM Blueberries, the course will be held at the Casa Andina Hotel in Chiclayo and will feature a technical conference program on June 30, followed by a Field Day on July 1, allowing participants to complement theoretical knowledge with practical experiences and on-site observations.
The event will bring together renowned experts who will share their knowledge and experience regarding the key challenges currently facing the blueberry industry. Speakers include Sebastián Ochoa, director of CASM Blueberries; Felipe Costa, International Director of CIIFEN; and international advisors Fernando Villagrán, Antonia Maggiolo, and Simón Muñoz. They will be joined by Patricio Muñoz, Ph.D. in Molecular Plant Breeding, who will discuss advances in genetics and their impact on the development of new varieties adapted to the demands of today’s markets.
The program will also feature an expert panel discussion titled “The Future of the Peruvian Blueberry Industry: Insights from Those Leading the Sector,” bringing together key industry figures to reflect on the changes currently shaping the industry and the strategies needed to sustain its growth.
